The Career Day aims at providing current EMA students with guidance on potential career opportunities in the field of human rights and democracy through an exchange of experience with alumni. It also gives students a first overview of how the EMAlumni association can help them in their career path.
The Career Day is a yearly event that takes places every January at the Global Campus in Venice, just before the students leave the Monastery for their second semester destinations. In 2020, the event took place on the 17th of January. Three experienced facilitators guided the 2019/2020 EMA students through different future options and professional paths, and ways in which to address the challenges or not miss out on opportunities.
Marta Trenado Diaz (EMA 2014), children’s rights specialist, Rosa Izquierdo (EMA 1999), human rights, human resources and psychology expert to the United Nations and the European Commission, GLOCARIS Glocal Minds Ltd consultancy firm owner, and Saionara König-Reis(EMA 2014), Senior Advisor on Human Rights and Sustainable Development at the DIHR, presented their personal experiences in the human rights professional world, offering tips and replying to students’ questions. Our board member Penny Papaspyropoulou presented, moderated and facilitated the event.
“The event was very enriching especially because of the different backgrounds the Alumni’s shared with us. It also gave us the opportunity to network and meet other passionate human rights activists.” Jennifer, current EMA student
If you are an alum and want to go back to Venice to share your experience, don’t miss our call for participants in November.
